Travel Information

Transportation to and from San Demetrio Corone, Calabria, is the  student's responsibility. There are many trains and buses which students can take from Rome, Naples, Florence, Milan, Bari, etc.

Once in Calabria, a service is available upon students' request from or to the following locations: Lamezia Terme Airport, Crotone Airport, Reggio Calabria Airport, Paola, Cosenza, Castiglione Cosentino, Sibari, Cantinella, and Corigliano Calabro

For services and fees please email us or wait for our pre departure material package. Please also note that from all of the above locations in Calabria, there are also buses available, which will take you directly (or by changing bus) to San Demetrio Corone. For more information on how to arrive in Calabria, please check the below paragraphs of this page.  For bus schedule please contact the following companies: SCURA (red color with a black eagle) www.iasautolinee.it Tel. 0983-565635. SIMET (red color)  www.simetspa.it Tel. 0983-520315 or 06-4740137.

From all of the above locations (except for Cantinella) there are also cabs available. Please notice that all cab drivers in Italy usually charge an extra fee for each luggage the customer carry with them.

For any help during your trip please call our office (0984-956165) or the following cell phone number (348-0921883).

 Calabria | Rome | Milan | Naples

*Please note that all the prices indicated below in US dollars are subject to change. They all depend on  the exchange rate of the dollar to the euro. To check the current exchange rate of the Euro visit: http://finance.yahoo.com/currency).

Gas prices: As you may know gas prices are going very high and for the Italian people this is becoming a real nightmare. Because of the very high taxes, gasoline in Italy is very expensive (the most expensive in Western Europe). In fact for a liter of gasoline in Italy in the Summer you pay about 1.60 Euros which means that for one gallon you need more than 6 Euros (that is almost $12.00).

Calabria:

There are three airports in Calabria: Lamezia Terme (Alitalia, AirOne, Luftansa, RyanAir, Eurofly), Crotone (AirOne), and Reggio Calabria (Alitalia, AirOne).   We suggest you to fly to Lamezia Terme Airport (its International code is SUF) which is the easiest airport to be reached from and to San Demetrio Corone (by car it will take one hour and an half/two hours). If you want to save some money you could fly to London and than take the direct Ryan Air low-cost flight to Lamezia Terme Airport. For more information on dates, luggage's number and weight, and fees visit www.ryanair.com

Please remember that the other two airports in Calabria are more distant or more difficult to be reached from the school town. To go by car from San Demetrio Corone to Crotone Airport it will take more than two hours and an half; and to go by car from San Demetrio Corone to Reggio Calabria Airport it will take about four hours.

Note: Once in Calabria, a service is available upon  students' request.  Let us know when and where you arrive in Calabria, and we will pick you up. For service and fees please email us or wait for our pre departure material package.
