Amalfi Coast

Home to some of the most impressive scenery in the world, the Amalfi coast is well known for the beauty of its breathtaking hills surrounding the crystal clear water of Amalfi, Positano, Sorrento and other beautiful towns.

Pompei

Visit the ruins of the city destroied by Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and live the sensation of going back to the time of the Roman Empire.

Rome & the Vatican

Visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Eternal City is famous for its monuments such as the Colloseum, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, Panteon and of course Piazza San Pietro and the Vatican.

Frascati

Located 20 kilometres south-east of Rome, Frascati is well known for being the location of many international scientific laboratories, for its renowned "Frascati" white wine and for its historical and artistic centre. In the area, they found a patrician Roman villa probably belonging to Lucullus, built during the late Republican Age.

Ancient Greek Magna Grecia area

The Magna Grecia is a vast area colonized by the ancient Greeks starting from the eighth century BC. You can visit a few ruins and museums situated on the Jonion coast such as Sibari and Amendolara, together with Medieval towns and castles situated in Albidona and Roseto.

Reggio Calabria & its Bronzi di Riace

According to the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio and to many people, Reggio Calabria has the most beautiful coastal walk in Italy. The beauty is enanced by the fact that while walking you can see Sicily. Morever the Archeological Museum hosts the Bronzi di Riace, considered the most beautiful art expression of the Ancient Greek civilization.

Cosenza

"Cosenza Vecchia" (Old Cosenza) with its inspiring narrow streets, its Medieval churches and the castle of Federick II is considered one of the most beautiful historical sites in Italy, by the best art critic of Italy, Vittorio Sgarbi. The modern part of the city is very active and full of opportunities to go shopping, listen to concerts, go out with young friends and have fun.

Riace

Riace is a cute town on the Jonion coast where the famous Bronzi di Riace where found.

Tropea

Tropea is one of the most beautiful and touristic coastal towns in Italy, famous for the white sand and the crystal clear water. The town situated in an high cliff is also well known for its sweet cipolla (onion) sold all over the world.

          

Sample Living Labs and Activities:

Cucina Calabrese: You can learn from professional chefs how to prepare some delicious homemade fresh dishes of Calabria, together with the typical sauces, cheese, mushrooms, and meat of the area.   

Morever students will be able to practice Italian language in a real-life environments such as at the fruttivendolo (fruit vendor), albergo (hotel), ristorante (restaurant), panetteria (bakery), pasticceria (pastry shop-cafe`), edicola (newspaper and magazine stand), etc. 

Please notice that labs are selected and scheduled at the discretion of the program director.
